Disney is taking steps to bring the story of Olympic track and field legend Jesse Owens to the bring screen. Antoine Fuqua has signed on to direct the biopic while Oscar-winning writer David Seidler is slated to write the screenplay. Seidler will use Triumph by ESPN's Jeremy Schaap as source material. The film will recount Owens' rise from poverty to his victory over Nazi ideology at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, Germany. The story will also mention how Jesse felt more slighted by U.S. president Franklin Roosevelt than by Adolph Hitler himself. Can you say irony? No word yet on when the film will go into production.
