Derek Jeter came through once again last night, proving to the world why he is so respected and why he will be so greatly missed.
After opening up his last game at Yankee Stadium with an RBI double in the bottom of the first, Jeter unveiled his magic again in the seventh inning when an error by J.J. Hardy on Jeter's hit resulted in a two-run error. But that would have been too easy, so as fate would have it, the Yankees gave up three runs in the ninth to set the stage for a 5-5 ninth inning.
After a single by Jose Pirela, who was then bunted over to second by Brett Gardner, Jeter stepped out of the phone booth with his "Captain Clutch" uniform on and set off an earthquake at Yankee stadium with this:
Captain Clutch delivered again, this time in his final at-bat at Yankee Stadium, forever cementing his legendary status as a member of both the Yankees and as one of the all-time greats in Major League Baseball history.
RE2PECT to the Captain.
