Marcus Morris said he was the best defender in the NBA outside of Kawhi Leonard and when it comes to guarding LeBron James, hes up to the task. The LBJ cult members laughed at Morris because the narrative is that no one can stop LeBron. Morris and his Celtic mates disproved that theory in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris says he’s probably the best guy to guard Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James other than San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard.
Not only did Morris agitate LeBron into his worst game of these playoffs, limiting James to just 15 points on 5-of-16 shooting from the field, 0-5 from three-point range and seven turnovers, but Morris also dominated James on the offensive end with 21 points and 10 boards.
Basically, it was an ass whipping and LeBron will be playing that new Post Malone featuring Swae Lee, “Spoil My Night” on repeat as he prepares for Game 2.
This game has turned into an embarrassment for LeBron James. I’m will go into detail live on Facebook when this game mercifully ends. See you then.
The entire Celtics squad came out the gate lit and just blitzedLeBron James and Cleveland. Before you knew it, Boston was up 25-9. At the end of the first quarter, it was 36-18. The Lebron apologists shrunk into their holes and those who are tired of hearing about the legendary exploits of the games greatest player were dancing in the streets.
Just like I said before the game you have to make LeBron James a jump shooter, said ABC studio analyst and former Celtics legend Paul Pierce after the game. They eliminated his drives and it’s all cause and effect. When LeBron James is getting to the paint it opens up the Cavs three-point effectiveness. Today, they didn’t shoot the three ball well because of his inability to get to the lane and find wide open guys.
Morris picked up two quick fouls against James early on, but they set the tone. Bron knew he was in for a physical dogfight and Morris was going to use every one of his fouls if he had too.
In addition to the great team defense, the Celtics distributed the ball and had balanced scoring all over the floor. Jaylen Brown had 23, Al Horford chipped in 20 potent low-post points and Jayson Tatum had a quiet but effective 16 points.
Jayson Tatum. BANG. https://t.co/Oh0MrPS1cf
The Celtics looked faster, younger and bigger and played with a hunger and intensity that let the basketball world know that they dont fear King James. LeBronto was a shining moment in the legacy of LeBron James, but the Green Machine beat him like a pinata in Game 1, 108-83, and all he can do is take the L and come back in Game 2.
LeBron James 15 points on 5/16 Marcus Morris 21 points on 7/12 https://t.co/6D7OTpRh6N
The series isnt over but the depth of the Celtics squad is evident and it will be interesting to see if Cleveland has the manpower to survive seven games against Bostons rising group of young guns.
