Carl Lawson Is The Name To Watch In The 2017 NFL Draft

“Listen, my son wasn’t always great. He had to work at what he does and now he’s a great athlete.”- Mignon Gregory.

The old adage, “Mother knows best”, always holds weight. So if anyone knows Carl Lawson, it’s his mother, Mignon Gregory.

Carl Lawson, at 6-foot-2 and 250 lbs, was a force for the Auburn Tigers as a defensive end last year. Against Ole Miss as a true freshman, he had six tackles and two sacks. He finished the year with 20 tackles and four sacks and was poised to become one of the SEC’s dominant players.

But he missed the entire next year due to a torn ACL. He came back in 2015 and was named a team captain, but injuries again derailed what many thought would be a breakout season.

This past season, he was an All-American and a First Team SEC performer, but the road there was filled with hard work and determination.

Now, he’s a few days away from seeing his dreams of being an NFL draft pick become a reality. Lawson is expected to be taken in the 2nd or 3rd round later this week, but after watching our latest installment of “Draft Dreams“, you’ll see why he’s the player teams should not pass on.
