The NFL trade deadline — the window for NFL teams to make roster changes at midseason that could improve their playoff or championship chances — ends on Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET
Will Fuller V To The Packers
Aaron Rodgers was completely stunned when the Packers drafted QB Jordan Love with their 2020 first-round selection. Coming into 2020 Rodgers had thrown just one of his career 364 touchdown passes to a first-round pick (Marcedes Lewis) and he wasn’t drafted by the Cheeseheads.
That’s insane as Peyton Manning threw 293 of his 557 career TD passes to first-rounders and Tom Brady has thrown 106 of his 559 TD passes to a first-round pick.
Davante Adams is a formidable receiver but he needs help to alleviate pressure and keep coverage from always rolling to and bracketing him. After the Packers’ 28-22 loss to the Vikings on Sunday, that help is needed more than ever and it could come in the form of Notre Dame speedster and current Houston Texans wideout Will Fuller V. Giants receiver Golden Tate is also expected to be on the market.
Quinnen Williams To The Raiders?
Next, the Raiders are in dire need of pass rush and run stop help and that could come in the form of former Alabama defensive lineman Quinnen Williams.
The “JETS aka Just End The Season” are a dumpster fire and for some reason, HC Adam Gase still has a job. He hasn’t done much as far as winning, developing chemistry with his stars or improving the culture since taking the job. Case alienated LeVeon Bell, which led to the multi-faceted running back being released.
Now getting Williams as he begins to show all that promise in his second year, would set the Raiders up well for years to come with Clelin Ferrell and Maxx Crosby already in tow on the defensive front. Sort of like what DC Paul Guenther (Current Raiders DC) had in Cincinnati when he had Carlos Dunlap, Geno Atkins and Michael Johnson.
However, it doesn’t look like the trade will happen. This week, Adam Gase shot down “false” rumors that the Jets were actively shopping their former first-round pick, which was certainly well received by the team’s defensive coordinator.
DC Greg Williams had to second that emotion.“He’s at the very top of our league as an interior guy,” Gregg Williams said Friday, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini. “He’s only going to get better. I believe that. If he stays healthy, he’s going to be really, really, really good and I’m glad he’s here.”
Adam Thielen, Another Toy For Kyler Murray
This one is probably an insane projection but the Vikings are looking like they may tear it down in the “Twin Cities” after their disastrous start and QB Kirk Cousins showing real regression. The division win over Green Bay definitely helps, but it doesn’t make Minny any closer to being a contender.
They traded stud wideout Stefon Diggs to Buffalo in the off-season and drafted Justin Jefferson out of LSU as his replacement and he truly hasn’t disappointed one bit. But now comes the debate over should they look to move the Uber talented Adam Thielen. They’re believed to like what they have in Chad Beebe (Son Of Former Bills WR Don Beebe) and Tajae Sharpe whom they acquired in the off-season via free agency.
Plus moving Thielen would net a nice pick in return. Last week they traded edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue to the Ravens as well. With all that being said I have him fitting well with the Cardinals as another weapon for Kyler Murray to target.
That would give them a trio of Hopkins, Fitzgerald and Thielen. They may have to part ways with Christian Kirk to get their hands on Thielen. There have been rumors of Thielen to Cleveland as well, but Minnesota claims it won’t trade him. It ain’t over till it’s over though.
Stephon Gilmore To Sure Up Seattle Secondary
What about the Patriots moving DPOY Stephon Gilmore aka “The Gilly Lock” to the Seahawks?
The Seahawks added pass rush help this week in the form of Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap who should help a very inconsistent Seahawks defense.
Seattle has Swiss Army knife – safety Jamal Adams (who has been out nursing a bad calf) as well all-world linebacker Bobby Wagner. They need a shutdown corner who can cover regardless of how consistent or inconsistent the pass rush.
Gilmore is just that. Rumor has it he’s already put his house on the market expecting a trade.
Aldon Smith Returns To San Fran
A reunion trade could be on the horizon with the Cowboys moving former Niners edge rusher Aldon Smith back to San Fran. The Cowboys are in a free fall and starting their third-string QB. Their defense is terrible and they seem to have a real culture issue under first-year coach Mike McCarthy.
They traded Everton Griffin to the Lions and cut cornerback Daryl Worley. Moving Smith would save them a little against the cap but really moving him would be just to get him out of a place he thought was a safe haven as he looked to restart his career.
That doesn’t seem to be the case as they’re in turmoil. He could net a late-round pick in compensation for a trade. Niners have lost so many on the defensive line so they need the help upfront.
