“Stephanie White Has To Go” | Some Caitlin Clark Fans Feel The Indiana Fever Coach Is Sabotaging Clark’s MVP Hopes By Featuring Kelsey Mitchell’s Elite Scoring Prowess

Another day and another crazy theory by Caitlin Clark fans, who now believe that Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White is doing everything in her power to make sure the former WNBA Rookie of the Year and three-time WNBA All-Star doesn’t win MVP this season. Clark is having a stellar season and as of Friday has the third-best odds to take home the coveted award.

She ranks just behind Las Vegas Aces superstar and reigning four-time MVP A’ja Wilson and Minnesota Lynx rookie Olivia Miles who have the two best odds to win the award. Clark is just ahead of her teammate Kelsey Mitchell, whom some of her at times cult-like fans believe the aforementioned White has opted to feature in games therefore hurting Clark’s chances to win the award.

White Called Out By The “Clarksies”

During the Fever’s 91-85 Aug. 20 road loss to the Dallas Wings that saw Clark go for 10 points on 4-for-15 shooting with nine assists and four rebounds, her teammate Mitchell went crazy, scoring 37 points on 9 of 18 from the floor — including 4 of 7 from three — and a perfect 15-for-15 from the free throw line. Mitchell also chipped in five assists as well.

That drew the ire of Clark fans who took to social media to voice their frustration.

“Stephanie White basketball is losing basketball. Dafuq is she doing? The team been absolutely rolling. So what does she do? Reverts back to the same ol bullsh-t that wasn’t working. Nonsensical,” a fan said.

They continued.

“Why does Steph White insist on changing sh-t that’s been working for us? She saw Caitlin Clark cooking ror the past 13 games and said nah let’s go back to this motion BS.”

“Stephanie White has to go. This Kelsey centric offense may be good for KMs stats but it’s not winning basketball. She’s so frustrating. We’ve all seen what works. And what works still gets Kelsey fed. But she just keeps reverting back to the same old bullsh-t she always does. Genuinely the most frustrating coach I’ve ever watched.”

Mitchell Has Been On A Heater All Season

Mitchell has been on sensational just about all season, and that continued in Thursday’s loss to the Wings, as she added to her historic run this season by reaching the 20-points plateau again. With her 21 points in the first half, Kelsey Mitchell set a new WNBA record for the most consecutive 20+ point games, extending her streak to 21 games, breaking the previous tie held with A’ja Wilson.

The former Ohio State Buckeyes legend also earned her 29th 20+ point game of the season, now tied with A’ja Wilson for the second-most in a single season in WNBA history, five shy of the league record of 34 games with seven games still remaining.

Additionally, the game marked Kelsey Mitchell’s 139th career 20+ point game, setting a new franchise record for the most of said games in Indiana Fever history, passing Tamika Catchings (138). Mitchell’s 139 20+ point games ties Lauren Jackson (139) for the 10th-most in WNBA history. Kelsey Mitchell’s 37 points brings her season total to 912, tying A’ja Wilson for the fifth most in a single season in league history.

Additionally, Kelsey Mitchell’s 37 points helped her pass herself for the most points in a single season in franchise history, breaking her previous record of 890 points set in 2025, with seven games still remaining.

Finishing the night with 37 points, Mitchell became the fourth player in league history to score 900+ points in a single season, joining Jewell Loyd, Breanna Stewart and A’ja Wilson.

White Praises Mitchell

During the offseason White raved about Mitchell’s ability in isolation ball.

“She is probably the only person on our roster that can just get a bucket and doesn’t need any help,” White said.

Much to the chagrin of Clark fans, the aforementioned White has continued to make the claim that Mitchell is uniquely capable of creating her own shot and getting a basket (“create a bucket”) without needing plays run for her. Mitchell has proven this reliability by setting franchise and league-level scoring consistency marks.

A self creator, White highlighted that Mitchell can generate offense independently in isolation situations when the offense breaks down.
