John Harbaugh called the Harbowl an "incredible moment in our country." Right, right, interesting timing. This was President Obama's inauguration weekend, today is the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Black coaches clearly aren't getting a fair shot at coaching opportunities in the NFL. It's easy to take Harbaugh out of context here, or even suggest he's oblivious to reality. He talked with Sports Illustrated's Peter King about his grandparents being immigrants, the hard work and success of he and his brother John in a moment like this being the greatness of America. Got it.
With all of that said, congratulations to the Harbaugh family, the Obama familiy and the Carter family. But America still has a long way to go. The NFL still has a long way to go. Six Harbowls in a row couldn't lessen those points.

President Obama could have higher expectations among the black community in his second term. He obviously still has the overwhelming support on his side and perhaps it's impossible for a black president in America to NOT have said support. But Obama has critics across the racial spectrum, albeit with varying perspectives. As for black folks, there's no one-size-fits-all way to be president. The grotesque mass incarceration, urban poverty and black unemployment are issues that the community would like to see the prez address with vigor. That's despite recognizing his position as the leader of a country with different priorities.
