Venus Williams, The Ageless Wonder, Advances To Her Ninth Wimbledon Final

With her 6-4, 6-2 victory over Englands Johanna Konta in the womens semifinal on Thursday, Venus Williams will be appearing in her first Wimbledon Finals since 2009, and her ninth overall.

While trying to capture her sixth Wimbledon crown against Spain’s Garbie Muguruza on Saturday, the 37-year-old Venus now stands alongside Martina Navratilova as the oldest women to ever reach a Grand Slam final. 

Muguruza, last years French Open champion, is trying to become the only person other than Serena to ever defeat Venus in a Wimbledon Final.

American Tennis Player Venus Williams is into the Final of Wimbledon!! Venus Williams take out Brit Johanna Konta to advance to her first Wimbledon Final since 2009. In her interview Venus expresses gratitude toward her opponent and is looking forward to representing the Williams’ sisters in the Wimbledon 2017 final.

Venus’ five championships at Wimbledon have come over Lindsay Davenport twice, Justine Henin, Marion Bartoli and Serena.

One more win would be amazing, Williams said in her post-match interview. It wont be a given but Ill give it my all. I couldnt have asked for more, but Ill ask for more. I thought the crowd was so fair. So fair. My experience helped a lot. Garbie and I play so well on grass, Ill have to ask Serene [for some tips] who played her last time. I miss Serena terribly, I wish she was here. I wish she could do this for me!

No active player can match Venus’ 20 Wimbledon appearances. This was her 101st singles match at the All England club and her 10th semifinal.
