The NBA All-Star Game is one of the biggest weekends on the American sports and entertainment calendar. The actual game, as well as the Dunk Contest and 3-Point Contest are major sporting events, but that’s only half.
The party scene is truly next-level. Each city selected to host the event becomes the “it” place to be for about a solid week. The host city gets an economic boost, as well as a bump in the prestige category. The NBA is supposed to switch cities and give everyone a chance to host, but for reasons unbeknownst to most people, the NBA has settled into a habit of repeating the host cities over and over again. But not anymore.

Multiple sources told the Toronto Sun Tuesday that the Raptors are on the verge of landing the 2016 NBA all-star weekend.
An official announcement is expected shortly that will reveal further details of how one of the sport's biggest weekends will tie in to the Toronto Raptors' 20th-anniversary season.
Tim Leiweke, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment president and CEO, made it clear upon taking over the company that landing the prestigious event was one of his early goals.
