What We Learned From NFL Week 4

Ezekiel Elliott is an MVP contender

The Cowboys werent supposed to be that good this season. Dak Prescott hasnt been that breakthrough passer they hoped for. But as long as Zeke Elliott is in the backfield, Dallas always has a chance to win. The more they feed Zeke, the better the offense will be.

Elliott’s 240 yards from scrimmage in a tough 26-24 win over Detroit on Sunday were a career best, he had 152 on the ground and 88 through the air.

He had 29 touches after entering the game averaging 19.7 this season.

Elliott also continues his rise up the Dallas Cowboys rushing list and hes just three years into a career that was robbed of six games by the NFL last season.

Dallas is 2-2 and sitting in second place behind 2-1 Washington in a log jammed NFC East. With a dearth of offensive weapons and Prescott still finding his way, Dallas success will largely be based on the effectiveness of their All-Pro running back and potential MVP candidate.

This season might be the first time since 2013 that Pittsburgh Steelers don’t reach double digit wins.

After an offseason and preseason filled with player drama and a media focus on LeVeon Bells absence, the Steelers have stumbled out the box to a 1-2-1 record and currently sit in last place in the AFC North.

To put this in perspective, the Steelers have only finished in last place twice since 1969.

Under the consistent leadership of HC Mike Tomlin, the Steelers won 34  games in the last three seasons. With two losses already, they have just one less loss than they did in all of 2017 when Tomlin posted a career-high 13-3 record. Its not quite panic time, but the Steelers will be lucky to win double-digit games this season.

On Sunday, they didn’t have enough of these moments in a 26-14 loss to the Ravens.

Earl Thomas and Lil’ Wayne Give Everybody The Finger

Many people doubted Waynes ability to come back with a project of substance after years of legal battles and personal struggles, but the wordplay is still there. The Carter V is an audio middle finger to his haters and doubters.

If only the Seattle Seahawks loved Earl Thomas as much as Wayne’s fans.

While Wayne did it metaphorically, the Seattle safety Earl Thomas literally gave the Seattle Seahawks sidelines the finger after suffering a lower leg fracture putting him on the shelf for the rest of the season.

After holding out in training camp, Thomas reluctantly joined the team, without a new contract. He let it be known however, that he was not happy about it on social media, saying that “the disrespect (by Seattle front office) is well noted and will not be forgotten.”

When Thomas went down it was a classic example of the very reason why he wanted to secure a long-term deal, because football is a sport where careers end at the drop of a dime. As he was carted off, Thomas looked over at the Seahawks sideline and flipped them the bird. Theres no ligament damage so Thomas will be back next season, but his career could have ended right there and Thomas delivered a message that was easily decipherable with no chaser.
