TSL Comic Book Profile: Deadpool 2’s Domino’s Powers Explained

In the early 90s, the Marvel Comics mutant craze was in full swing as different titles shot off from the main X-Men title like lava flows from an erupting full volcano.  New Mutants, which came along in the late 80s, was constantly introducing new characters. Many of those characters became mainstays within those mutant based storylines.  X-Force was first introduced in New Mutants #100 and eventually getting their own title. Many of those who appeared in New Mutants ended up in the pages of X-Force main characters.  Domino is one of those mutants.

As fans and prognosticators rave at the exploits of Domino as portrayed by breakout actress Zazie Beetz in the upcoming Deadpool 2 film, there are still those who are unfamiliar with the monochromatic assassin from the color pages of graphic novels.

Since those early days, she eventually would become a mainstay in the pages of X-Force.  Unlike the X-Men, who often anguished over killing enemies, X-Force was basically a mutant hit squad. So, Domino’s abilities certainly came in handy.

She has the ability to subliminally and psionically initiate random telekinetic acts that affect probability in her favor by making improbable (but not impossible) things occur within her line of sight.

The Untold Truth Of Deadpool 2’s Domino

If you’re new, Subscribe! http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Looper Although most of the Deadpool 2 hype is focused on Cable, the film will also see the debut of another Marvel mutant mercenary: Domino. A longtime ally of Cable and Deadpool, Domino has spent the last couple of decades in comics shooting, stabbing, and punching her way through any threat – aided by her ability to influence probability in her favor.

This can affect anything but is only activated when she is under duress.

Created by Fabian Nicieza and artist/co-writer Rob Liefeld, Domino’s backstory began at the U.S. government super soldier program Project Armageddon. Their mission is to genetically engineer the perfect weapon using a precognitive mutant named Beatrice.  Domino is only one of two survivors from the program, was stolen by a  cult called the Armajesuits and delivered to a Chicago priest who raised her until her powers began to manifest.

She has been teamed with Wolverine and Cable in X-Force, eventually becoming the love interest to the later.  She is trained in numerous forms of armed and unarmed combat, covert-ops and is a skilled marksman, athlete, and swimmer.
