Yankee fans around the world shed a tear on Sunday as the Bronx Bombers retired the legendary No. 42 jersey of Mariano Rivera in Monument Park. Rivera was one of the greatest Yankees of all time, as well as one of MLB's best closers of all time. Rivera is the all-time save leader and came up huge in so many big moments for the Yankees in the Playoffs.
He also had one of the best song introductions, too. Metallica showed up on Sunday to say goodbye to Rivera and played "Enter Sandman" live as the team and stadium honored one of their heros.
Though Joe Girardi says he's going to try and get Mo out of retirement, this, for all intents and purposes, was Rivera's farewell.
Rivera also got one more entrance at a real game to a rousing standing ovation.
