Steve Kerr, Sports World React To Mass Shooting In Florida

Yesterday we were ripped apart once again by another mass shooting.

This time at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County, Florida, where 17 people were gunned down by a terrorist, by another homegrown terrorist.

As the news quickly spread, lives were destroyed, hearts were ripped open and tears flowed undammed across the country and the world as another school massacre took place despite the warnings and emotional pleas for prevention and help through measures such as gun control, pleas which have gone unheeded by cowardly politicians who remain in the service of the “almighty” NRA and gun lobbyists, many of whom who refuse to even acknowledge these horrific events unless they involve suspects of a certain color or faith.

The world of sports has never failed to react to these events. Athletes, coaches, and personalities have expressed their feelings without hesitation, knowing that they, or their families, could easily be as affected by these incidents as anyone else. Here are some of these statements and heartfelt reactions from the sports world, including Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr, who has never held back when speaking about social injustice or the ills of the world, including mass shootings.

We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that took place in our community today. We have grown up here in South Florida. Many of us were students and parents of students in South Florida schools. We have kids who are students in those schools right now.
