LeBron James And Others React To Shaq’s Son McDonald’s Roster Snub

The 2018 McDonald’s All-American Game rosters have been announced and more than a few people are upset that Shareef O’Neal, Shaq’s son, didn’t make the team. The McDonald’s game will be held this year on Wednesday, March 28th at Phillips Arena in Atlanta.

Shareef will play his college ball at Arizona next year, and he’s listed as the No. 24 high school recruit on ESPN’s Top 100 board for the 2018 class.

LeBron James offered some sage words for the youngster to digest, using the sleight as fuel for motivation on his basketball journey.

Got some very wise words from lebron this morning .. he posted on his Instagram… I’ve always looked up to Lebron because he always treated me like family … he is family

Former NBA wild boy Matt Barnes is putting his money where his mouth is, saying that he plans to boycott Chicken McNuggets. Not sure if it just relates to all McDonald’s food, or just McNuggets. We’ll have to wait for Barnes to clarify.

Shareef still has a chance to be named to the other prestigious event, the Jordan Brand All-American game. Despite being one of the top ranked players in the country, there are a handful of players at his power forward position that are considered to be better than him at this point like Zion Williamson, Simisola Shittu, Naz Reid, Darius Bazley and Jalen Smith, among others.

Congrats to the high school all stars who made the 2018 rosters! Keep your to the hardwood and follow #WhereTheFutureStarts for all things Games as we inch closer to 3/28!

If I were Shareef, I’d just keep it moving and not be too upset. After all, Al Horford, Allen Iverson, Andre Drummond, Andre Iguodala, Caron Butler, Damian Lillard, DeAndre Jordan, Draymond Green, Dwyane Wade, Gary Payton, Gordon Hayward, Isaiah Thomas, Jamal Mashburn, Jimmy Butler, John Wall, Karl Malone, Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, Paul George, Steph Curry and Tim Duncan, among many others, weren’t selected to play in the McDonald’s game, and that didn’t stop them from going all the way up.

And if even more motivation is needed, guys like Korleone Young, Lester Earl, Taymon Domzalski and Omm’A Givens were once McDonald’s All-Americans, and a few years later, they were never heard from again.

So there you go. Players gonna play, and ballers gonna ball.
