LeBron James life may seem like it revolves around the basketball court, but the NBAs iconic star has always dabbled in the creative arts off the court as well as embarking on many lucrative and culturally transformative business ventures with his childhood friends.
With the NBA All-Star game this weekend in Los Angeles, a haven for celebrities and Hollywood giants, now was the perfect time to announce King James film production plans.

LeBron launched Survivor’s Remorse which has been on Starz for several seasons as his first major dip into TV production and controlling the Hollywood narrative about African-Americans. Now, its been reported that James and his SpringHill Entertainment partner, Maverick Carter, are producing a new House Party, which will revive the Kid n Playfronted New Line comedy franchise that started in 1990 and was followed by sequels in 1991 and 1994.
Atlantas rising entertainment influencers Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori will pen the screenplay.

House Party is considered a classic, featuring the rappers Kid N Play from Queens, New York. The duo formed an upbeat, positive and dance-inspired team that helped them achieve some crossover fame in a Gangster Rap Era.Their songs were not only catchy and well produced, but were a perfect street connection for the light-hearted House Party franchise.

The Hollywood Reporter said Fans can expect a star-studded soundtrack, perhaps even James good pal Drake, with whom SpringHill is collaborating on Netflixs crime drama, Top Boy, and Vince Carter doc The Carter Effect.
Were trying out some ideas for musicians to be cast in and to be a part of the project, says Carter, who adds that a cameo by James, in high demand since his well-received performance in Universals Trainwreck, also remains a possibility.Theres no plan for it now, but hes a fantastic actor, and if he wants a role, Stephen will find a great role to put him in, adds Carter.
Warner Bros.based SpringHill is eyeing House Party as the Survivors Remorse banners first narrative feature, with its Space Jam remake a ways off, says Carter. The films join a SpringHill slate that also includes Netflixs limited series about entrepreneur and activist Madam C.J. Walker, starring and executive produced by Octavia Spencer; Starzs docuseries Warriors of Liberty City, about a Florida youth football team that has produced more than 40 NFL players; and NBC game show The Wall, which just wrapped its second season.

James is one of many NBA icons with short film projects on the horizon. Kobe Bryant is an Oscar nominee for doc short Dear Basketball, while Forest Whitaker, Nina Yang Bongiovi and Jason Samuels are producing an authorized doc about Stephon Marburys surprising second act as a basketball god in China.
Two-time NBA MVP and Canadian icon Steve Nash is also producing an untitled feature about the rise of ecstasy and the rave culture in Reagan-era Texas.
Now THAT is a must-see.
