Kevin Garnett Wants To Remove Glen Taylor And Own The Timberwolves

Kevin Garnett has been a busy man since retiring from the NBA. He has his “Area 21” section of TNT’s Inside the NBA, where he features guests of his choosing and talks basketball. He has several business interests and word on the NBA streets is that KG will be trying to follow in Michael Jordan’s footsteps as far being rich, African-American and a former player trying to break into the exclusive ownership realm.

Before the death of coach and team president Flip Saunders, the prospects of Garnett owning a piece of the franchise that he helped put on the map as a blooming, straight-out-of-high school NBA phenom back in the 90s. We know that KG is very temperamental when it comes to relationships with teammates, ownership and loyalty. He still hasn’t forgiven Ray Allen for bouncing to Miami and breaking up the “Big Three” Celtics success story.

KGs relationship with the team and especially current Minnesota owner Glen Taylor has been rocky and unamicable since Saunders death in 2015. KG felt the team didnt do enough for Saunders told Awful Announcing that he would love to be part of an ownership group that bought the team as long as Taylor wasnt a part of it.

Kevin Garnett still wants to own the Timberwolves — and to ‘kind of remove’ Glen Taylor https://t.co/QFPUvWdSdM

“I don’t want to be partners with Glen [Taylor], and I wouldn’t want to be partners with Glen in Minnesota,” KG said. “I would love to be part of a group that buys him out and kind of removes him and go forward.”

Garnett and Taylor haven’t always been on the greatest terms with each other. When Garnett returned to Minnesota towards the end of his career a big part of it had to do with the involvement of Saunders. However, when Saunders died in the fall of 2015, Garnett felt the organization didn’t honor Saunders  correctly in a brief 2016 ceremony. Theyve been on his doo doo list ever since.

Maybe KG can out his personal feelings aside and become a part of a franchise that is starving for his return in some capacity. Like John Elway in Denver, Garnett is the most mythical player in the franchises history and his TV career could be a stepping stone to a more involved role in the future. What we do know is that if Taylor is around, most likely KG wont be.
