ESPN Boss Says Sage Steele Has A Bright Future At The Network

The rumors of Sage Steele‘s demise have been greatly exaggerated.

ESPN president John Skipper spoke out in support of the SportsCenter anchor, who was ethered on Twitter earlier this week.

Sage has done a wonderful job for us in a number of important roles. As previously announced, her SportsCenter presence has grown and this week alone she has led our coverage from the mens Final Four and the Masters, Skipper told TheWrap on Thursday.

Sage definitively has a bright and long-term future at ESPN and my complete support, he added.

Many people jumped to the erroneous conclusion that Steele was being fired after it was announced that Michelle Beadle will be the new host of ESPNs NBA Countdown. The Twitterverse celebrated, but it seems that ESPN is simply re-shuffling the deck and assigning Steele with other duties.
