Donovan gets McNabbed again

For the second time in less than two years, former NFL veteran quarterback Donovan McNabb was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol in a Gilbert, Arizona suburb.

Police reports released earlier this week stated that the former QB was cited and released after being involved in a non-injury collision while he was allegedly leaving a sports bar and heading home. The former Philadelphia Eagles player appeared to be impaired while being questioned by police officers at the scene, following the accident where he rear-ended another vehicle.

McNabb, who claims to have had no alcohol that night, states that he did however take cough syrup and popped a pair of cough drops prior to the incident to help alleviate a cold. Officers at the scene seemed to think otherwise.

While Donovan spoke, I noticed a strong, fruit odor on his breath. I noticed Donovans eyes were watery and bloodshot and his speech was slurred, as stated in one of the officers report. McNabb was then reportedly given a handful of sobriety tests where at least six signs of impairment were documented.

A blood test was taken at the scene but the results have yet to been released by the Phoenix based crime lab.

McNabbs first DUI occurred in December of 2013. The former 13-year NFL quarterback was arrested and ordered to serve a day in jail coupled with a $1,500 fine after pleading guilty to the charge and agreeing to enter an outpatient treatment program for alcohol abuse.

His career highlights include leading the Eagles to four straight NFC championship games and one Super Bowl appearance in 2005. He was one of the premiere black quarterbacks in his prime and a well-respected leader in the locker room. He also served brief stints with the Redskins and Vikings.

McNabb seemed to be unfazed by the situation, posting a picture on his Instagram account with a pair of new shoes hours after the arrest.

He also released a statement in regards to the situation yesterday on his radio show, There was a story that was released, and I want everybody to be cognizant of it, because I am very aware of it, handling the matter at this particular point. But at this point, I have no further information, and as we continue on with the situation, then well let it handle as it will handle itself.
