This particular Ghost is simply looking to heal herself from the results of a tragic accident that killed her parents and left her physical form in a constant state of “quantum phase”, meaning she fluctuates back and forth between the physical, three-dimensional universe in which we normally exist, and the quantum realm in which the laws of physics are turned on their ear.

As is often the case when comic book characters are adapted to film and television, sticklers will lament at the differences between the comic book and those adaptations, and there are plenty of changes made to make the characters more palpable for viewing audiences.

Though Ava’s Ghost is aesthetically similar to the comic book, the likenesses come to an end there.

Here are the power set and abilities of Ghost to provide a partial primer for Antman and The Wasp’s primary antagonist;

Equipment and Abilities:

 The battlesuit that Ghost wears in the movie is designed to alleviate some of the pain associated with her condition. While Bill Foster (Lawrence Fishburne) creates the suit in the film to protect Ava, the comic book version creates it for himself and his power set and origin aren’t written as having anything to do with a disability or having any type of condition. The “phase” ability is provided by the suit, not to contain it.

The “Ghost-tech” battlesuit allows Ghost to turn himself and other objects he touches invisible or intangible, but not both at the same time.
It also allows him the ability to hack or reprogram almost any electronic system in his vicinity.

The Ghost employs guns that fire bursts of electricity or concussive force blasts and a large arsenal of high-tech weaponry, including incendiary devices, self-targeting Anson grenades, and sound-activated bombs.

Despite that considerable arsenal, The Ghost prefers to avoid physical confrontations for stealth and subterfuge.

The Ghost’s primary enemy over the years has been Tony Starks aka Iron Man. However, he has clashed with the Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D. and Roxxon Oil over the years.
