When Judge hit an inevitable slump to begin the second half, fair weathered journalists started doubting him, as if they had no idea about the roller coaster world that is pro baseball.
Judge weathered the storm and endured the highs and lows, hot streaks and hitless streaks that go along with an MLB season. Baseball greatness isnt affirmed on a day by day basis, but at the end of the season when you can appreciate the body of work that the player has produced.
Judges body of work has been historical as he launched two homers (his 49th and 50th) on Monday to move past Mark McGwire and become the all-time rookie home run king. Big Mac smashed 49 in 1987 for the Oakland Athletics.
The 6-foot-8, 250-pound, statuesque Bronx Bomber has given the playoff-bound Yankees a new superstar to believe in. A guy who exudes the same confidence, humility, leadership and character as Derek Jeter once did for this franchise. Not only can Judge mash and hes a power slugger, but hes a marketing machine whose face you will start to see all over the TV screens in short order.

He’s the kind of African-American idol that can inspire more young brothers to play baseball. The legend of Aaron Judge is just beginning. On to the playoffs. People will be on the edge of their seats waiting to see what this monster masher does next.
