New season, same results. Chef Curry is still cookin’ and serving defenders.
The baby-faced assassin, who is hoping for an encore after a MVP-season and NBA championship, delivered a dominant opening act, scoring 40 points, along with 5 rebounds and assists. The Warriors defeated the Pelicans 111-95. The last player to have those numbers on opening night? That would be Grant Hill, in ’99.
Ok, it was only Nate Robinson and Ish Smith, but Curry is clearly motivated to prove that his MVP and the Warriors season were not flukes. But, can he be even better this season? It will be interesting to see if Curry can join the exclusive 50/40/90 club (50%fg, 40%3p, 90%ft) which only eight players have accomplished. He came very close to joining last season but ended up shooting just under 50 percent from the field last season.
Steph has reinvented shooting in the NBA, so if anyone can improve, my money is on #30.
