Talented writer and hit show creator Shonda Rhimes just got what is sure to be a juicy book deal from Simon & Schuster. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rhimes' offering will trace her decision to start a family, the challenges of single motherhood, and the pitfalls that initially befell her along the road to success. Just in case you've been hiding under a rock as of late, Rhimes' genius has been the driving force behind such television hit shows as Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice and Scandal. The book publisher describes the offering as "part memoir, part inspiration, part prescription".
"I have made a lot of mistakes as a single mother, and as a working mother, and as a sleepless mother, and as a dating mother. And I did all of it while running a bunch of TV shows. So I'm going to write about that and hope my kids don't use it against me in therapy later," said Rhimes.
Simon & Schuster vice president and editor-in-chief, Marysue Rucci, had this to say about the deal. "Shonda Rhimes is bar none in the storytelling realm. Now fans of her phenomenal shows can read Shonda’s story in her own words – and marvel at how Shonda built a phenomenal career. Readers everywhere will cheer the fearless decisions Shonda has made to achieve happiness."
There's no title for the book as of yet, but it is slated for release sometime in 2015.
