This remarkable player helped France win the 2018 World Cup.

Rising soccer phenom Kylian Mbappé has been featured on the iconic Time Magazine cover.

The 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain F.C. player has won a World Cup and two Ligue 1 titles at a young age. During our World Cup coverage, The Shadow League named Mbappé as one of the several black players to watch during the semi-finals and praised his charitable donations post-Cup win.

Out now: My @TIME international cover interview on @KMbappe. I asked Mbappé how he’s handling mega-fame, at 19. He tells me he clings to home truths from mom, says the key is “respect, humility, lucidity.” Merci Kylian et la famille Mbappé.

Throughout his career, Kylian Mbappé has continued to stay humble.

“I have learned that the biggest stars and the greatest players are the most humble ones, the ones who respect people the most,” Mbappé said.

And just as important it is to be humble, it’s just as important to stay grounded. “You always have to keep some lucidity,” he says. “There are three criteria: respect, humility and lucidity.”
