Carmelo Anthony and the Oklahoma City Thunder are parting ways according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Anthony struggled with the Thunder and had one of his worst seasons since joining the league 15 years ago.
Paul George had recently announced his return to OKC at the start of free agency and it was unclear what role Melo would serve had he stayed with the Thunder. Sam Presti, OKC’s GM, will be working with Melo’s agent on the exit strategy.
Anthony’s agent, Leon Rose of CAA Sports, has a strong relationship and history with Thunder general manager Sam Presti, and they’ll work together on Anthony’s exit through trade, the NBA’s stretch provision, or a combined buyout and stretch, league sources said.
After just one season, Melo’s time with OKC is done. Where will he head to next?
