Redskins release RGIII

We knew it would happen eventually, but it’s still a sad story.

The former 2012 Rookie of the Year, Robert Griffin III, looked like he would be the future of both the franchise and the League. But after suffering an ACL injury in the Redskins’ playoff game that year, Griffin never looked the same and then finally fell out out of favor with the team and fans. The nail in the coffin came after Kirk Cousins’ break out season this past year and the team giving him the franchise tag.

Washington will look to use some of that money to re-sign Cousins to a big contract. Meanwhile, RGIII will be searching for a new home and a fresh start, but with his skills and talent, coupled with teams needing a good QB, we don’t expect him to be unemployed for long.
