Pharrell is All About GIRL

According to the Chinese calendar, 2014 is the year of the horse. But singer/songwriter and producer Pharrell Williams is having such a great year so far that the calendar may need to be reconsidered. Not only has he been getting all kinds of accolades for his hit single “Happy," but has won several Grammys, including Best Producer, and is scheduled to perform at the upcoming Academy Awards where "Happy" has been nominated for best song in a movie.  He’s even scheduled to perform at the BRIT Awards in London, tonight, only days after appearing at the NBA All-Star game in New Orleans.

His frequent flier miles must be stacked high. Is it a coincidence his new album G I R L is about to drop on March 3? We don’t think so. The set will be his Columbia Records debut.

"When Columbia Records presented me with the opportunity to make an album, three things came to mind,” said Pharrell in a statement. “One was the sense of overwhelming honor that I felt when I realized that they were interested in partnering with me on the album that I had always dreamt of making.  Two, it would have to feel festive and urgent.  And three, I instantly knew it would be called G  I  R  L. I hope you like it."

G I R L will be his first solo set since In My Mind was released through Interscope in 2006. Check out the trailer below.
