With the NBA season more than two months away from beginning, Paul Pierce has been extremely vocal about his belief that the Nets are a much more talented squad than the Knicks. He is Celtic disdain for them still courses through his vein as a Net.
Via RealGM:
"I think the hate [for the Knicks] has grown a little. Everybody knows how much I disliked the Knicks when I was with the Celtics, but I think it's grown to another level," Pierce said on ESPN NewYork 98.7 FM's "The Michael Kay Show" on Thursday. "I think it's time for the Nets to start running this city."
The Nets have definitely put together a formidable squad, and the “Battle for NYC” will be an intriguing matchup. But Pierce should be focused on beating the two-time defending champion Miami Heat. The rivalry makes for an inriguing subplot for sportswriters, but a championship will go through them, not the Knicks.
