NFL insider John “The Professor” Clayton is leaving ESPN as part of the sweeping layoffs at the Worldwide Leader in Sports.
I guess you saw the news. After 23 years I won’t be contributing to ESPN. Two words. Thank you. My bosses and co-workers are the best.

The network’s NFL coverage will not be the same without him. In addition to his excellent reporting, ESPN is losing the dude who delivered their absolute best commercial ever.
I guess now he can really scream, “Hey mom! I’m done with my segment!”
Clayton covered the Super Bowl-winning 1976 Pittsburgh Steelers while still in high school and in 2007, he was inducted into the writer’s wing of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Job well done, Professor.
