The New York Jets have a locker room populated by some outspoken characters. The intent of this offseason was to cut down on the personalities, but beggars can't be choosers and on Saturday, they signed tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. Winslow Jr's signing fills a talent gap at the position since Dustin Keller signed with Miami in the offseason, but it remains to be seen how the temperamental Winslow will interact with the ravenous New York media. Rex Ryan is coaching for his job this season and he'd sign anyone he thought could help him win.
Winslow was cut after the last preseason by the Seattle Seahawks, before getting signed by the New England Patriots and quickly asking for his release a week later. At 29 years old, he should have plenty of gas left in his tank and could have been one of the great tight ends of the last decade, were it not for his struggles with knee injuries since a 2005 motorcycle accident following his rookie year.
