Muhammad Ali Jr. Is Detained Again

If there’s no Muslim Ban or anti-Muslim hate going around, then someone needs to inform airport officials because they’ve done it again, to the same man.

Muhammad Ali Jr., who was detained last month at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport while returning on a trip from Jamaica, was just detained again, this time leaving from Washington D.C. back to Fort Lauderdale. Ironically, Ali Jr. was in the Nation’s Capitol to speak with Congress about ending racial and religious profiling.

Luckily, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was on the flight with him and tweeted out the following photo:

According to the Courier-Journal, Ali Jr. was stopped and questioned at both the ticket counter and the security checkpoint, being detained for a total of 20 minutes according to his lawyer Chris Mancini. The TSA responded to the charges, stating “The TSA does not have the authority to detain passengers, and that did not happen.”

The TSA said that “a call was made to confirm Mr. Ali’s identity with TSA officials.” After being cleared, he proceeded to the security checkpoint where his “large jewelry” set off the metal detector, so he was patted down by agents. The total time was approximately 18 minutes according to a TSA spokesperson.

Even though he made his flight, was not arrested and the police were not called, the fact remains that this situation has happened to the same man once again. Coincidence?
