Michigan State University To Retire Draymond Green’s No. 23 Jersey

Michigan State University announced Monday that it would be honoring Saginaw native and basketball star Draymond Green, according to ABC 12 News.

Michigan State Coach Tom Izzo declared that the school will retire Green’s jersey number 23.

The Golden State Warrior power forward is a former Spartan and led MSU to a Big 10 Title as senior and also earned Conference Player of the Year honors.

Since joining the NBA, Green has helped Golden State make it to the finals five consecutive times, taking home a total of three world championships.

Green grew up on Saginaw’s north side and attended Saginaw High School. He’ll be the ninth player to have his number retired at Michigan State University, joining the class with Mid-Michigan natives Morris Peterson and Mateen Cleaves.
