Manny Ramirez Gets The Boot In Texas

It looks like the Manny Ramirez experiment with the Texas Rangers isn’t going to work out after all. The Rangers released the vet from his Triple-A contract in Round Rock. Ramirez played 30 games and hit .259 with three home runs and 13 RBIs for the minor league affiliate.

When the Rangers made this move in early July, it was to see if Manny could tap into that HOF bat that once made his case for greatest right-handed hitter in the game.

The signing was low risk, high reward potential and didn't exactly work out the way the Rangers were hoping for. Texas is a game ahead of the A's in the American League West Division pennant race going into Wednesday night's match up against the Brewers. They don't really need a shell of the Manny we used to know.
