Recently known by younger generations as the voice of Mr. Potato Head in the ‘Toy Story’ movies, one of the most legendary, iconic and influential comedians in history, Don Rickles, passed away today. He was 90 years old.
Rickles rose to fame in the ’60s thanks to his regular appearances on “The Tonight Show” and “The Dean Martin Show.”
He got Frank Sinatra’s attention in Miami Beach when he performed a comedy routine there, and the two regularly worked together throughout the years, giving Rickles a tremendous career boost.
Considered one of the best insult comics ever, getting roasted by Rickles was considered a brutal badge of honor.
He had his own TV show, “The Don Rickles Show,” on ABC and was also was a regular on “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “The Addams Family” and “Gilligan’s Island.”
His most recent memorable film performance was as the Manager of the Tangiers in the film Casino.
