LeBron James Wins AP Male Athlete of the Year

The year 2013 has shaped up to be an exceptional year for LeBron James.

The year 2013 has shaped up to be an exceptional year for LeBron James. He won his second NBA championship in June, was named Finals MVP, earned his fourth NBA MVP, and is just living one of the most celebrated basketball lives a man could ever live.  The announcement of James being named the Associated Press’ Male Athlete of the Year will only add to his folklore for years to come.  In fact, his selection as AP Male Athlete of the Year puts him in rare company. He joins Michael Jordan and Larry Bird as the only NBA players to have ever been so honored.  Serena Williams was named AP Female Athlete of the Year on Wednesday.  Past winners include Jesse Owens, Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Carl Lewis and Joe Montana.
