Kyle Love Blindsides Cam Newton, The Black On Black Slime Needs To Stop

Former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots nose tackle Kyle Love got up off the couch and basically labeled the celebrated union between Cam Newton and Bill Belichick as destined to fail.

As Cam begins his “They gave up on me”  redemption tour, he and Jared Stidham are listed as co-starters on the Patriots depth chart. The informed sector of the football community expects Cam to win the job outright and bring a new dimension to New England’s offense. The vibes have been largely positive from the Patriots side as they attempt to move on in the post-Tom Brady era. The larger NFL community seems excited to watch the new Cam Newton perform in a new system with improved coaching.

Love, however, will be watching — and based on his comments — expecting the new union between Glam Cam and Dolla Bill to crash and burn.

As if Cam doesn’t have enough pressure proving to the world that he can still play, leave it to an obviously disgruntled former teammate to throw some serious shade on Cam (tea that the media will take and run marathons of negative spins with) just as he begins his first training camp with New England.

This Black on Black slime has got to stop. Love basically called Cam fragile and unable, unwilling to accept criticism, or be taught.

Cam’s Ralph Tresvant diva flow supposedly had the Panthers coaching staff shook and the former MVP was allegedly coddled to the point where Love doesn’t think Cam can withstand the same meticulous and candid criticism that Bill inflicted on Brady. Love thinks Cam is gonna tap out before he survives Belichick’s Boot Camp.

Now, why would Love say this? Who’s paying this guy to say these things? Don’t want to go as far as to call the man a Judas, but him trying to throw dirt on Cam’s name sure isn’t friendly banter. It’s nothing more than fuel for the media to attack Cam and it further ignites any apprehension New England fans might have about Cam coming in and taking over.

Love tried to lift Cam’s skirt on this one and you have to ask yourself why. Unless Love had an agenda or worked for the media, that’s something a former teammate keeps to himself. Love could have offered insight on the difference between the Panthers and Patriots coaching staff without throwing Cam under the bus and making him look like a guy who won’t be able to lead, control his emotions or work together for the sake of victory.

We don’t know if that’s true. What we do know is that Cam carried the Panthers franchise on his back for nearly a decade and got them to a Super Bowl. He didn’t complain any more than any other superstar QB and he sacrificed his body and his mentals for a franchise that holds no weight nationally without him.

All of the character bashing from the couch is worthless, unnecessary and kind of foul. Let Cam show and prove.
