Tonight, two of the top MMA promotions in the world, Bellator and BAMMA, have joined forces to kick off the weekends combat sports fireworks at Bellator 169.
Bellator MMA President Scott Coker and BAMMA CEO David Green are jointly presenting Muhammad King Mo Lawal (19-5, 1 NC) versus Satoshi Ishii as well as BAMMA main event, Tom Duquesnoy (13-1, 1 NC) and Alan Philpott (16-8).
BAMMA is the largest mixed martial arts promotion in the United Kingdom.
Lawals last fight at Bellator 154 saw him take a unanimous decision loss to Phil Davis in a light heavyweight title eliminator.
Prior to that, he won the Rizin heavyweight Grand Prix tournament in Japan with a first round KO over Jiri Prochazka at the Saitama Super Arena. As a former Bellator light heavyweight champion and Division I All-American wrestler, Lawal has got the goods.
“The cold weather (in Ireland) gets me, you know what Im saying. But its gonna be hot in the venue, because Im gonna bring the heat. Its gonna be action-packed. Im ready to scrap,” said Lawal at yesterday’s weigh-in.
Satoshi Ishii is a Japanese judoka turned mixed martial artist, noted for winning a Gold Medal in Judo at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, China, a silver medal at the 2006 Asian Games and two All-Japan Judo Championships.
Last June he lost a split decision to Quinton Rampage Jackson at Bellator 157 and looks to advance his MMA career with a win over King Mo.
Catch all the action live from 3A Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Spike at 9pm EST / 6pm PST.
