Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. was suspended for a positive marijuana test.
[Insert Athlete’s Name] was suspended for marijuana is becoming the most regular story in sports.
Last week, Dorial Green-Beckham, 2011’s top football recruit, was busted for weed and suspended.
Two weeks ago, three Kentucky football players were busted for the same thing. Half the Georgia Bulldog defense was suspended at the beginning of the season. Nick Fairly was arrested for weed, so was Sammy Watkins, so was…I could continue, but I’m on a word limit here.
Anyway, my feelings on the subject are out there.
This time it was pretty obvious what was going to happen. You can’t fail a drug test you know is coming.
But in typical Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fashion, he’s not bothered by the suspension at all. Keith Kizer of the Nevada State Athletic Commission told ESPN.com, “[Chavez Jr.] had no objection to it,” adding, “I spoke with the promoter and attorney last week and there was no problem with [the suspension]. They understood the formality of it all. That's all it is.”
Just a formality, huh? Keep doin’ your thing, kid.
