Remember when Jay- Z dared Dame Dash and anyone else to try and “make another HOV?” Nobody had an answer. Couldn’t match his energy.
Dak’s Jay-Z moment isn’t hitting the same, because Jerry Jones thinks he can find a few more Daks. Jerry does this J.R. Ewing sh*t for real.
When Jones first came into the game and was winning chips with Emmitt Smith, Jimmy Johnson at the helm and Michael Irvin, his Texas tycoon, Boss Hog grit was celebrated in the 80s and 90s. Now, dictatorships are highly-criticized in 2020, but sink or swim, Jerry remains true to his personal swag.
When the Cowboys franchised Dak in March instead of giving him a new deal it only added to the confusion about Dak’s future with the team. At this point we still don’t know if he’s going to show up in camp whenever that starts.
Dak is sulking, but Jerry is shaking and baking. We know this is still an old fashioned Texas staredown, which will most likely end with Dak getting paid.
But it was interesting to see that the Cowboys‘ first Draft interview was Jalen Hurts.

Jerry’s commitment to playing high stakes poker is evident in his ongoing negotiations with Prescott. Throughout the process, Jerry has scoffed at the criticism and pressure to sign Dak to the record contract the Pro Bowl QB reportedly wants. Jerry said he wouldn’t set the market, especially with a QB who hasn’t won any hardware and he’s sticking too his guns.
The social media mosh pit has had a feast with the contract debate and it’s kept the Cowboys — and the NFL for that matter — in the news.
The consensus opinion is Jerry should chill, fallback and just pay Dak the bread. Jerry doesn’t like being strong armed. I’m not saying his egotistical approach to things is for everyone, but when you’re one of the richest men in America and own the Dallas Cowboys then you play by different rules.
JJ is the kind of dude that always has a methos to his madness. Maybe he really doesn’t value Dak enough to swallow his pride and pay him.Was the Hurts interview a power move by Jerry? A hint that he’s got options if Dak continues to be greedy? Or maybe he just doesn’t feel like a guy who threw for over 4,900 yards and led his team to the playoffs at just 26 years old, is the answer.
Maybe Jerry’s just losing his marbles. Then again, it doesn’t matter.
He could be wrong, but it’s his prerogative. After all, Jerry owns the team. If he wants to cut off his nose to spite his face, it’s his decision.
Replacing a QB of Dak’s caliber won’t be easy, but Jerry’s not completely crazy
Remember, Dak was an undervalued fourth round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Hurts is projected to go in the third or fourth round, following an impressive combine complemented by a tour of knock ’em out the park interviews highlighting his leadership and character.

Not that Jerry would consider replacing a proven Dak with Jalen Hurts, but Hurts would surely be a consummate backup. Hurts would also put more pressure on Dak to maybe ease his contract demands. Dak is no sucker, but no quarterback wants an intellectually-equipped dog like Hurts breathing down his neck.
There are some who would probably feel confident saying that Hurts can do everything Dak can do. He might not have the arm strength but he completed 62 percent of his pro style passes at OU, ranking second in the country. Hurts is a proven winner, he’s mobile, he is a play-maker and a leader with an ability to deal with a blow to his ego as evidenced by his crazy journey from Alabama star to Oklahoma Hesiman candidate and future NFL Draft pick.
Jerry Jones interviewing Jalen Hurts in the midst of a contract dispute with his star QB may not seem like a big deal, but Jones doesn’t fake moves just to make moves. He makes movies to make money…or prove a point.
Jones is doubling up on the fact that he’s not going to overpay Dak more than he personally thinks he’s worth. He’s also letting us know that he wants a little more humility in his QB (which is bullshit by the way, htu just stating what I Feel are the facts) And he’s letting everybody know that regardless, he’s working and puts the Cowboy brand above everything. If he had too, he’d cut Dak loose and doesn’t care who feels a way about it.
