Before Deion Sanders led Jackson State to an 11-1 record, including going an undefeated 8-0 in the SWAC conference and winning the SWAC Championship Game, Coach Prime put his team up on “the game.”
Sanders invited Instagram model and Jackson State alumna Brittany Renner to speak to Jackson State football players. The purpose was to teach them to avoid transactional relationships as they advance into professional sports and non-sports careers.

When Renner was a JSU student she helped the soccer team win a 2010 SWAC title.
The Prime Difference
Although the meeting took place in October, Sanders and Renner’s video was recently released on Instagram this week. Renner educated the student-athletes on the new rules for when the stakes are higher.
“Naturally, if you play a sport, that’s an incentive to talk to you,” Renner said. “A lot of times women, men in general. Everybody wants something. Even if we have our own thing going on, it’s like me being with you is good because you boost my stock. I boost your stock. It’s that simple.”
Additionally, Renner told the team that her Instagram Direct Messages are “like a Nike store” full of blue checkmarks from entertainers and athletes.
Blue Checks Everywhere
“It’s like a Nike store — there’s nothing but blue checks. When you reach a certain status, you can have the pick of the litter. I’m talking heavy hitters.
“It’s a give-and-take, but you have to be aware of what you’re signing up for,” she said. “You’re trying to make it to the NFL. You do understand there’s a lot that comes with that, right? To be able to decipher who really loves you for you, I think that’s the billion-dollar question we’re all wanting to know.”
After raising the profile of HBCU players, Sander knows he has unleashed the beast in clout chasing from the world. Bringing in Renner was his version of a pre-emptive preparation for the team.
The Renner Way
From rappers like Drake and Lil Uzi Vert to ballers like James Harden, Jamal Murray, Ben Simmons, and Charlotte Hornets player PJ Washington, with whom she has a child, Renner plays the clout game.

PJ Washington took to Twitter to respond to Brenner’s educational platform, which he undoubtedly got a kick out of it.

Coach Prime took to social media to explain the Renner meeting.
“It’s my responsibility as a Coach to prepare my young men for any and everything on the field and off,” Sanders wrote. “I brought in @bundleofbrittany to educate them on how the game is played between man & woman at their age & stage. The message may not be for everybody but trust me it’s for somebody.”
Up On Game
Renner informed the players of the obvious. As their status grows, their visibility and hangers-on follow.
“You just have to have to be aware — nobody is here for nothing,” said Renner. “It’s just about who could be there during the times of adversity. And you could only know that through adversity. Like if you had an injury and you weren’t able to play for just a short amount of time. Those are things you are going to have to see just for yourself.”
