The final tally for the first week of 50 Cent’s independently released Animal Instinct are in and it appears as though Fiddy’s newest album will not be moving anywhere near the units that he has moved in the past. According to Hits Daily Double, the album moved 40,000 units during its initial week. This is only slightly higher than the 35,000 units that the Queens rapper was predicted to sell.
Previous 50 Cent studio albums have all been commercially successfully. Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (872,000), The Massacre (1.14 million), Curtis (691,000), and Before I Self Destruct (160,000) opened with a minimum of 6-figures in units sold in their first week, and went on to reach at least gold status in the United States.
50 is planning to drop a second album (Street King Immortal) this September. The reunited G-Unit is also looking to release a project in November.
