Is 50 Cent Looking At Getting In The MMA Business?

Bellator is quickly gaining ground in the MMA business since Scott Coker took over in 2014. Now it looks like rapper, entrepreneur, and agitator extraordinaire, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is interested in the MMA business.

Jackson sat down with Coker, the Bellator President and CEO, recently and those who follow combat sports went crazy with speculation. Bellator is now part of the new Paramount network and is owned by mega-media conglomerate, Viacom.

Jackson has been doing very well recently in the TV and film business with his hit cable crime drama POWER and a slew of movies. He has been heavily linked with Floyd Mayweather in the past as the two were close friends and business partners.

Jackson has tried his hand at promoting boxing and famously tried to coax Mayweather away from his “advisor” contract with Al Haymon while the boxer sat in prison for domestic violence charges.

Scott Coker Reflects on Bellator Journey, Says Things Changed After Reebok Deal & UFC Sale

Bellator president Scott Coker talks to Ariel Helwani about the promotion’s return to PPV, Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva, the state of free agency in MMA, and much more.

Since Mayweather famously fought UFC star Connor McGregor in a boxing match, he has now been trolling the world with images of him in cages and with fingerless gloves. He also confirmed that he has been training in MMA with UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley.

Jackson owns SMS Promotions, which holds the promotional contracts for James Kirkland and Yuiokis Gamboa. After a high profile loss to Terence Crawford, Gamboa sued SMS and attempted to end his contract, but failed.

Recently, Jackson was talking with Muhammad “King Mo” Lawal, letting him know that he would be attending his fight this weekend in San Jose, CA against current Bellator MMA heavyweight champion, Ryan Bader.

Still, we all know Jackson is a hustler and with the sale of the UFC for $4 billion to WME-IMG, its a certainty he sees an opportunity with the world’s number two MMA promotion in Bellator.
