HYPE Football Series Is Preparing NYC HS Players For The Future

NYC HS football players converged on Randall’s Island to participate in the first annual HYPE Football Showcase.

Over the weekend, HYPE, Honing Your Potential & Excellence, incorporated an NFL combine-style camp, life skills training, and an NCAA recruiting 101 session for parents.

The program prides itself in preparing student-athletes to be the best versions of themselves both on and off the field by using the game as a vessel.

The event was a collaboration between the HYPE Series, youth football team, Harlem Jets, and AboutUNYC.

“I couldn’t be happier with the positive impact we had on student-athletes and parents during the first HYPE Series showcase. The young men competed at a high level, college coaches were in attendance and offered scholarships, and parents were provided keys to helping their sons navigate the complex and at times intimidating college athletics recruiting process,” says HYPE Series founder, Walter Brock.
“The game has created so many opportunities for me, so it’s on me to pass the torch to the next generation of athletes.  Use the game, don’t let the game use you!”
2019 HYPE SERIES

“It was a truly gratifying experience to see the first annual HYPE series take place. As a kid from Harlem and also a former football player, it means more than the world to me to give the kids of the city, opportunities that I didn’t have growing up,” said Harlem Jets COO Jamel Wright.

Adding,  “A chance to come out on a beautiful day, to have fun and compete and just have a great time, was a very exciting but humbling experience. The athletes and their parents don’t know all that goes into the process of putting things like this together, but to see the parents pleased and the kids with looks of determination, made everything worth it. It made me HYPE. HYPE about next years event, HYPE about New York City Football.”
