Early Saturday morning free agent wide receiver Donte' Stallworth suffered burns in a bizarre hot air balloon accident, according to USA Today.
The Associated Press reported that Stallworth has "serious" burns and had been hospitalized. AP said the basket carrying three hot air balloon passengers crashed into the power lines while airborne, according to Miami-Dade Police spokesman Roy Rutland. Two passengers were transported to a trauma center, Rutland said. A third was not injured.
Stallworth was signed by the New England Patriots in 2012, but he was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury following the Patriots' Week 14 win over the Houston Texans.
Stallworth was already an unrestricted free agent and while reports indicate that his injuries aren't too serious, Pro Football Talk reports that he will be joined in his job hunt by Pats receiver Brandon Lloyd.
After going back and forth on restructuring his contract, the Patriots have decided to release wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.
That would seem to indicate they’re serious about signing Steelers wideout Emmanuel Sanders to an offer sheet, though that paperwork hasn’t been filed.
