Ezekiel Elliott involved In car accident with suspended license but will play

Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott was involved in a car accident on Sunday, before the team left Columbus to take on Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl

Elliott was cited by Columbus police after the accident with took place near the Buckeyes campus for driving under with a suspension, driving without a license and failure to control. He’s due in court on January 26th. 

Today Elliott said that he was unaware that his license had been suspended before the accident. “”First and foremost, I wasn’t aware that my license was suspended. And I’m doing everything I can now — well, my dad is doing everything he can — to get that handled and to get my license back in good standing.” 

“The weather was just terrible and I hydroplaned, lost control of my car and it was a bad situation,” said Elliott, who also didn’t have his driver’s license on him during interactions with the police after the accident. “I lost my wallet. I didn’t have my license with me, but I had my passport on me. I still had photo ID, I just didn’t have my license on me.” 

The Big-Ten Offensive Player of the Year rushed for 1,672 yards and 19 touchdowns this season. Elliott will be in uniform when the Ohio State Buckeyes face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Fiesta Bowl on New Years Day, which is expected to be Elliott’s last game
