Donald Trump Attacks Spike Lee Over ‘Racist’ Oscars Acceptance Speech

Make the moral choice between love versus hate, let’s do the right thing.

President Donald Trump took to his Twitter account—like he usually does when he’s upset—to attack legendary director Spike Lee over his Oscars acceptance speech.

Trump tweeted, “be nice if Spike Lee could read his notes, or better yet not have to use notes at all, when doing his racist hit on your President, who has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts, etc.) than almost any other Pres!”

The five-time nominated, first time winning director took the stage to accept the award for Best Adapted Screenplay for “BlacKkKlansman”. In his speech, Lee honored Black History Month and thanked his grandmother—who he said saved up 50 years of Social Security checks to help put him through film school. Of course, no award speech is complete without a few words about politics.

“The 2020 presidential election is around the corner,” Lee said. “Let’s all mobilize, let’s all be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate. Let’s do the right thing.”
Lee’s speech was a call to action to choose love over hate–nothing racist there.

However, this recent outburst is just one of many times President Trump has verbally attacked African Americans.

A call to make the moral choice during the upcoming election is not a racist attack but more so common sense when voting. But if the shoe fits, then so be it.
