Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Says Plane Incident Won’t Deter Team From Pursuing Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham Jr. is set to choose where he’ll play this season in the coming days. Earlier this week he was escorted off of an airplane for reportedly going in and out of consciousness and then refusing to leave the plane.

The free agent wide receiver is reportedly healthy and coveted by a handful of teams who view his addition as the missing piece to a Super Bowl run.

One of those teams is the Dallas Cowboys, who believe they have all the ingredients to make it to Super Sunday but also believe that adding OBJ would help make that goal a reality.

Cowboys Still Interested In Odell Beckham Jr.

Following OBJ’s situation, Cowboys owner and CEO Jerry Jones let it be known that his team is still very interested in the dynamic wideout’s services despite his minor airport situation. During his weekly radio interview with 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, the longtime owner said OBJ’s “overall team compatibility, his judgment, his behavior is not an issue with him. It is with many, it isn’t with him.”

Jones continued …

“If you look at what precedes us before getting here physically, coming to visit, I like that. As to other teams, we don’t have anything to step back on that.”

Jones Says He And Beckham Are On Same Page

As Beckham revs up his visits, the Cowboys are confident they have what it takes to add the former LSU Tigers standout. Jones even said he’s talked to Beckham, and the feeling he got was “very genuine.”

“Very competitive. Feels confident. Feels good about himself. I think he breeds confidence but yet very, very … just compatible. We think he’d fit in really good with us.”

Beckham seemed to be the missing piece last season for a Rams team that was loaded on the defensive side with Aaron Donald, Von Miller, Leonard Floyd and Jalen Ramsey. But the offense was missing a home run threat in the passing game to take pressure off Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp. OBJ was just that, showcasing his all-around ability, until he suffered a torn ACL in the game, his second one, which put his 2022 season on hold as he mends.

Multiple Cowboys Players Want OBJ To Join The Team

Cowboys players have been boisterous in their hopes of seeing Beckham come to “Big D,” from Defensive Player of the Year edge rusher Micah Parsons to star QB Dak Prescott.

Following a 40-3 shellacking of the Vikings on the road, Parsons shared his thoughts on OBJ with reporters.

“S—t, we can use him. I think he’s a great player. He’ll expand the offense. He’s a guy you want on the team beside all the other critics stuff that people make up and s—t about him. He can add real value to the team and help us do what we want to do.”

Prescott shared those same sentiments.

“Anytime you have a chance to add a talent like that and knowing Odell, knowing his résumé, it’s exciting. But understanding, it’s also a business, and I’m sure there are 31 other teams that would like to add him as well.”

Reportedly, the New York Giants, Cowboys, Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills are the teams who really want to add him. The latest rumors say it’s a two-team race between the longtime NFC East rivals Giants and Cowboys.
