Colin Kaepernick Puts New Ink On Six-Year Extension

After months of posturing, negotiations and a near criminal case, the San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick finally came to terms on an extension to make both parties happy. Kaepernick splashed some ink onto a prodigious six-year extension that places him in the financial realm of the league’s highest paid quarterbacks.

Kaepernick’s deal is worth up to $126 million dollars over the next six years, but most importantly, $61 million is guaranteed. That’s half a million more in guaranteed money than the record contract Brees signed in 2012—not that his agents were counting or anything.

One thing you can definitely count on is that Cam Newton, Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson's agents have certainly taken note.
