Claressa Shields in one of history’s most decorated amateur boxers. She has not lost since 2012 and finished her amateur career 77-1.
She is the only American boxer to win back-to-back Olympic gold medals. Shield won the women’s middleweight tournament at the 2012 and 2016 Games and is also a four-time U.S. national champion and two-time world amateur champion.

Flint boxer Claressa Shields weighs in for her first world title bout Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the MGM Grand Detroit. Shields will face undefeated WBC super middleweight champion Nikki Adler on Friday, Aug. 4.
Now she looks to become a two title world champion tonight in her home state of Michigan. Shields takes on undefeated Croatian boxer, Nikki Adler for her super middleweight world title, as well as for a vacant belt in the main event of “ShoBox: The New Generation”.
Fighting for the second time at the MGM Grand in Detroit, a win for Shields (3-0, 1 KO) means she will taste a title faster than her more famous super middleweight predecessors like Laila Ali. Widely considered to be the best female boxer in history, Ali won her first world title in her 12th bout.
Ana Julaton won her first super bantamweight title in her eighth fight, Christy Martin in her 21st, and Lucia Rijker in her ninth fight. Famed trainer and feared boxer Ann Wolfe won a world title in her 10th fight and current pound-for-pound best Cecelia Braekhus won her first belt in her 11th fight.

Adler won the then vacant WBC super middleweight title back in 2013 and has defended it twice already. Although she is under the radar, she has nine knockouts and will be the toughest competitor Shields has ever faced as a professional.
“Technically I see that [Nikki] is very poised and calm. Shes patient, but not too patient,” said Shields at the weigh-in. “Even though she may be the bigger fighter, I know Im the aggressor. I think I can get her out in six rounds.”
Current UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion and former Strikeforce champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino will walk Shields into the ring tonight. The two sparred in advance of Cyborg’s title fight at UFC 214 on July 29th.
“I never thought it would happen, that the sports of MMA and boxing would come together like it has with the upcoming Mayweather-McGregor fight, said Justino at the weigh in. I think its great and incredible and could possibly open the door for other fights between the sports.
