Everybody and their mama seems to have an opinion on Aldon Smith playing in Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts despite being arrested Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of marijuana after hitting another car at 7 a.m on Friday morning. On Sunday morning Atlanta Falcons receiver Roddy White took the ESPN Countdown crew to task for what he perceived to be hypocritical judgments.
Smith has a history of run-ins with the law and Harbaugh's decision to send him out on the field seemed to set a double standard. Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe is an opinionated public figure. He's probably more interesting than Chad Johnson or Randy Moss, but because he's a punter FOX Sports and ESPN haven't come calling for his on-air expertise. On Sunday, he took to Twitter and lit into the Niners decision to play Smith rather than discipline one their star pass rusher.
Listening to the announcers justify playing Aldon Smith is pretty ridiculous.

So sick of this dual standard bullshit. Either say the game is full of horrible people and you don't care because people will pay you money

to watch, or actually stick to your morals when someone endangers others, even if he's a superstar. Any other way is hypocrisy.

The sole reason he's playing is because they care more about winning a child's game than what a man does with his life.

A head coach can make any player inactive. He could suspend him for conduct detrimental. He could cut him if he wanted to.

He could keep him active and not let him go on the field. There are numerous scenarios where Smith doesn't play today, but there he is.
