Los Angeles — NBA All-Star weekend doesn’t just belong to the big boys playing in the league’s marquee event on Sunday night. It also provides a sneak peak and shines a light on the young fellas that could be the future of the game down the road.
We caught up with this year’s 3-Point Shootout champion Devin Booker, the former University of Kentucky Wildcat who is averaging 24.2 points, 4.8 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game this year for the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns’ Devin Booker scored a franchise-record and NBA season-high 70 points as the Celtics defeated the Suns 130-120. Booker’s 70 points is the most ever against the Celtics, breaking Elgin Baylor’s previous record of 64 points (11/8/1959). Booker also is the youngest player to ever score 60+ points in a game.
It’s hard to describe being in the zone like that, it’s hard to have words for. It’s just something that happens. You get caught in the zone and you just feel like you’re in your home gym just playing, where every shot is going in.
I just want to be the best version of myself. I’m carrying my last name and I know what that means to my family.
I didn’t prepare for this year’s 3-point shootout. I took a different route this year. I trained my first year a lot and didn’t shoot the ball like I wanted to. It’s a total different feeling shooting off of a rack and it’s going to be a new feeling, but I’m just gonna go out there and shoot.”
